Overview

The SpkrShell Architectural Series CW1-X4r enclosure is designed in conjunction with L-Acoustics™ specifically to flush-mount their X4 miniature coaxial system speaker flush in-ceiling or in-wall. The Terrapin CW1-X4r is designed to mount the X4r model and provide architectural flush mounting for a clean professional install. Easily install this amazing little speaker into virtually any application just like it was any other architectural speaker.

A smart two-piece design makes it easy to install and service, and this encapsulated design keeps insulation and air leakage in-check from the living space, all while helping diminish audio bleed to adjacent spaces. Further control of audio bleed, and fire-rating if needed, can be achieved with our premium optional Acoustic Back-covers.

This enclosure mounts the speaker in a fixed position, straight down-firing only. This helps maintain the audio quality and the 110-degree dispersion angle of the X4 speaker.

This enclosure includes a magnetic attached Round steel grille prefinished in white, and is paintable. Additional grille options are sold separately. Installation couldn't be simpler, and you get that professional architectural flush look for your X4 speaker in minutes.

Compatibility

This enclosure is designed in conjunction with L-Acoustics to fit the following products:

  • L-Acoustics X4 (r) Miniature Coaxial Speaker (available from L-Acoustics dealers directly)

*The alternate X4i standard version of this speaker does fit this Enclosure, but the built-in grille of the X4i would need to be removed first. Modifications to any speaker are at your own risk, and the performance of our Enclosure using a modified X4i has not been tested, optimal performance can not guaranteed.

Temperature and UV Exposure Warning Enclosure material is not UV rated; ambient temperature should not exceed 150' F, avoid direct exposure to sun light or radiant heat sources. Do not exceed the recommended ratings of your installed speaker, see speaker documentation for details.

Moisture-Resistant (not waterproof) rating applies to enclosure only (not installed speaker) when installed out of direct weather and water spray, mounted in-ceiling, in a rated ceiling material and grille properly attached.

In-Wall Use is possible, provided the wall depth is at least 4-5/8" from the finished surface to the back of the wall cavity. This product should fit most standard 2x6" or deeper finished walls.

Retrofit Install Ready enclosure is designed for retro-fit installation, simply cut hole, attach electrical connection, and secure mounting dogs.

Drop Ceiling install is simple with our universal Drop-Ceiling Support Bracket, sold separately.
